After harvest, a BLMI head refills its trough, watched by a float switch. If the level is still low after 4 minutes, the machine halts with E5 to keep the water pump from running dry. Blue Air lists a float switch or water valve that is not working and water pressure below 30 psi. Blue Air ice machine display What to do when E5 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Water supply The water side came up short: the trough did not fill in the time allowed, the float or level probe never saw water, or water kept flowing when the inlet valve should have closed. A supply valve left partly shut, a clogged filter cartridge, low building pressure or a sticking inlet valve are the usual causes. Opening the valve fully and fitting a fresh filter clears the simple cases; a valve that hums without passing water is a visit. ### Usually leads to Ice machine water valve and filter repair The inlet valve, filter, sump float or level probe and supply line, tested and replaced when water arrives short, dirty or nonstop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Blue Air Blue Air ice machine calls start by reading the controls and looking at the evaporator for scale that slows the freeze. ### Source Blue Air BLMI modular ice machine user manual (3rd generation evaporator) BLMI modular heads, 3rd-generation evaporator (manual 220627). ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Blue Air's own guidance for E5 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Make sure the water shut-off valve to the machine is fully open. 02 Check the water filter cartridge and replace it if it is overdue. 03 Ask whether other fixtures in the building have low pressure; Blue Air wants 30 to 100 psi. 04 If E5 returns with good pressure, book a visit to check the float switch and water valve. ### Still there? Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E5 on a BLMI head is not the same as E05 on the BLDN-280A dispenser, although both are about low water. It also does not mean the drain is blocked. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems E5 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice machine before anyone is booked. Make sure the water shut-off valve to the machine is fully open. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What water pressure does a Blue Air modular head need? Blue Air specifies 30 to 100 psi. Below that the trough fills too slowly and E5 appears. ### My Blue Air shows E5 after a filter change. Why? A new cartridge that is not fully seated, or air trapped in it, can slow the fill. Flush it per its instructions and restart. ### Does E5 protect something on my Blue Air? Yes, the water pump. The head stops rather than run the pump without enough water. --- **[Read on the site: Blue Air E5: the ice machine did not fill with water in time](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/blue-air-e5/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
