Champion dispensers track the water filter on a timer of up to six months. When it expires, Filter Replacement Required appears. The message is a reminder based on time, not a reading of how clogged the filter is. Follett ice machine display What to do when Filter Replacement Required shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Nothing is broken; the control is reporting a state someone chose or a routine it runs: a clean or sanitize reminder counting the hours since the last cycle, a delay of a few minutes after power returns before the pump and compressor start, a bin-full light while the bin control is satisfied, or a standby or off mode someone chose at the keypad. No part is needed; finishing the cycle the light asks for, waiting out the delay or the key sequence from the manual ends it. ### Usually leads to No repair Replace the filter cartridge with the one listed for your unit. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Follett A Follett visit weighs how chewable ice is made and moved to the bin or the dispenser before looking at any single part. ### Source Follett Champion 7 and 15 ice and water dispenser manual Champion 7 and Champion 15 dispensers with an internal filter. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Follett's own guidance for Filter Replacement Required on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Replace the filter cartridge with the one listed for your unit. 02 Seat the new cartridge firmly; Follett's leak checklist starts with a filter that was not inserted correctly. 03 Reset the filter timer from the service menu as the manual describes. 04 If ice output drops even with a fresh filter, book a visit. ### Cleared? The light or code is gone, and the machine fills, freezes and drops a full batch of cubes into the bin with no new part. If it returns within a week, or the clean light comes back straight after a cleaning cycle, mention that in the booking. ### What not to do The reminder does not mean water has stopped; that would show as Low Water. It also does not replace the cleaning reminder, which runs on its own schedule. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems Filter Replacement Required tends to arrive with. Replace the filter cartridge with the one listed for your unit. ### Does my Follett Champion measure the filter or just count time? It counts time, up to six months. Very hard or dirty water can clog a filter sooner, so a drop in output can come before the reminder. ### Why is my Champion leaking after I changed the filter? A cartridge that is not fully seated is the first thing Follett checks for an internal leak. Close the water valve, reseat the filter and look again. ### Will a Follett Champion work without its filter? Follett asks whether the internal filter was installed as part of its Low Water checks, so a missing cartridge can stop the water altogether on units built around it. --- **[Read on the site: Follett Filter Replacement Required: time to change the ice dispenser water filter](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/follett-filter-replacement-required/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
