When a Follett makes ice, the water level drops as water freezes onto the evaporator wall. If the level does not fall below the low probes for 9 minutes, the board concludes nothing is freezing, flashes LO WATER and waits an hour. Follett's first suspects are a lack of cooling, such as a low charge or a compressor that is not running, and debris bridging the probes. Follett ice machine display · also shown as Blinking Low Water, power, time delay What to do when LO WATER flashing shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Cooling system The board saw temperatures or pressures that the sealed system should never reach: a discharge line too hot, a suction side that never cools, or a compressor that starts and stops on its overload. A dirty condenser can push a healthy system into this family, so it is the first thing to rule out; a low charge, a leak or a tired compressor is not. On many current machines that system holds R-290, which is flammable, and only a technician opens it. ### Usually leads to Ice machine compressor and sealed system repair The compressor, its start parts and the sealed system, including machines on flammable R-290, tested for pressure and leaks and repaired by the maker's procedure. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Follett A Follett visit weighs how chewable ice is made and moved to the bin or the dispenser before looking at any single part. ### Source Follett Horizon Elite D710A installation, operation and service manual Horizon Elite heads (D710A manual and the R290 C1014/C1414 user guide). On the R290 guide, a VFD error is added to the causes. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Follett's own guidance for LO WATER flashing on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Note whether POWER and TIME DELAY are blinking along with LO WATER. 02 Check that the condenser grille is not blocked and the room is not unusually hot. 03 Let the one-hour delay run out and see whether the machine starts making ice. 04 If it flashes again, book a visit; checking pressures and the compressor is work for a technician. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine compressor and sealed system repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-compressor-and-sealed-system-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do A flashing LO WATER does not mean the water supply is off, which is the steady light. It also does not by itself prove a leak in the sealed system, because scale or debris across the probes can give the same reading. ## What you may notice with it. Note whether POWER and TIME DELAY are blinking along with LO WATER. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### My Follett LO WATER light is blinking but the water is on. What is wrong? The board sees water but it is not being used, which means ice is not forming on the evaporator. That points toward the cooling side or dirty probes rather than the supply. ### Can dirty probes cause a blinking LO WATER on a Follett? Yes. Follett lists debris shorting the reservoir probes as a cause, which is why cleaning the probes is part of the check. ### Is a blinking LO WATER on an R290 Follett a gas leak? Not necessarily; it can come from the probes or, on newer heads, the compressor drive. If you also notice a hiss or gas smell, leave the room and book a visit. --- **[Read on the site: Follett flashing LO WATER: water is there but no ice is being made from it](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/follett-lo-water-flashing/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
