The Maestro Plus keeps a water sensor in the drain pan under the evaporator. If water cannot leave through the internal or external drain lines, it rises in the pan, most often during a purge, and the board stops the machine with SERVICE. This is a hard stop that stays until the reset button is pressed. Follett ice machine display What to do when SERVICE shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Drain and pump Water that should have left the machine is still inside it. A gravity drain clogged with slime or scale, a line run too flat to keep up during a harvest, a drain pump whose float sticks or whose motor has stopped, or an air gap blocked at the floor sink all back water into the bin or across the floor. Checking that the drain outlet in view runs clear is a fair first step; the pump and the line inside the cabinet are a visit. ### Usually leads to Ice machine drain and pump repair Gravity drains, air gaps, drain pumps and their lines, cleared or replaced when meltwater backs up into the bin or reaches the floor. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Follett A Follett visit weighs how chewable ice is made and moved to the bin or the dispenser before looking at any single part. ### Source Follett Maestro Plus R290 installation, operation and service manual Maestro Plus D414A/W, R414A/W and P414A/W (R290) boards. Horizon Elite heads report a similar chassis event as DRAIN CLOG instead. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Follett's own guidance for SERVICE on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Switch the ice machine off at its power switch and close its water supply valve. 02 Check the external drain line and the floor drain for a blockage you can see and clear from outside the machine. 03 Do not press reset over and over; if the drain looks clear, book a visit so the pan and internal lines can be cleared and dried. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine drain and pump repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-drain-and-pump-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do SERVICE on a Maestro Plus is not a reminder to schedule cleaning; that is the MAINTENANCE light during a clean cycle. It is also not a board failure, because the board is reporting what its drain pan sensor found. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems SERVICE tends to arrive with. Switch the ice machine off at its power switch and close its water supply valve. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why won't my Maestro Plus restart after the SERVICE light came on? It is a hard stop. Neither waiting nor switching power off and on clears it; the reset button on the board does, after the water has been dealt with. ### What causes the SERVICE light on a Follett Maestro Plus? Water that cannot get out through the drain lines backs up into the evaporator drain pan. A blocked external drain, a kinked internal line or scale are the usual reasons. ### Is the SERVICE light on my Follett a reminder for maintenance? No. It reports water in the drain pan. The cleaning cycle uses the separate MAINTENANCE light. --- **[Read on the site: Follett SERVICE light: water has backed up into the ice machine drain pan](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/follett-service/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
