--- title: "Hoshizaki 1 beep: evaporator overheated during harvest" description: "What 1 beep means on Hoshizaki 1 beep: evaporator overheated during harvests, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/hoshizaki-1-beep/" --- # Hoshizaki 1 beep: evaporator overheated during harvest A thermistor on the suction line watches harvest. ## What 1 beep actually means. A thermistor on the suction line watches harvest. If it reaches 127 °F, the KM control board stops the machine, sounds one beep, and waits for a manual reset. Hoshizaki names a hot gas valve or relay stuck on, hot water reaching the inlet, a stuck headmaster on a remote unit, or a shorted thermistor as the causes. Hot water migration usually comes from a mixing valve elsewhere in the building's plumbing. Hoshizaki ice machine display What to do when 1 beep shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Harvest and freeze cycle A freeze ran longer than the board allows, or a harvest started and the ice never fell. Scale on the evaporator holds the sheet to the plate, a thickness probe crusted with minerals never signals, a hot gas valve that does not open leaves the plate cold, a harvest assist that does not push, or a water curtain that swings without tripping its switch all end in this family. A cleaning cycle run by the manual often clears it; a valve or a probe is a technician's job. ### Usually leads to Ice machine harvest repair The hot gas valve, harvest assist, curtain switch and thickness probe that decide when a sheet of cubes is done and make it drop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Hoshizaki On a Hoshizaki ice machine, the technician notes every alarm signal and checks the water and condenser before pricing any part. ### Source Hoshizaki America Training and FAQs page, KM cuber FAQs KM crescent cubers, both self-contained (KM-231, KM-301) and modular (KM-350 to KM-660), repeat the beep pattern from the control board inside the unit. DCM cubelet icemaker/dispensers (DCM-300, 500, 751, 752) repeat the beeps every five seconds and also light an orange ALARM LED; their beep list differs from the KM list. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for 1 beep on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Count the beeps carefully; one beep on a KM means this lockout. 02 Feel the water line feeding the ice machine; if it is warm, tell whoever handles your plumbing, because a mixing valve may be sending hot water back. 03 Leave the unit off and book a visit; the reset button is on the board behind live terminals. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine harvest repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-harvest-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do On a DCM cubelet dispenser, one beep means something else: low water, which resets itself when water returns. On a KM, one beep does not mean a slow freeze; that is three beeps. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems 1 beep tends to arrive with. Count the beeps carefully; one beep on a KM means this lockout. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why does my Hoshizaki beep once overnight but run fine after a reset? Hoshizaki points to hot water migration, which tends to happen at night when the ice machine is the only thing drawing water. A temperature recorder on the inlet line is how a technician proves it. ### Can I reset the 1-beep alarm on my Hoshizaki myself? The reset button is on the control board inside the unit, near live terminals, so it belongs to a visit. The manual gives that ALARM RESET button as the way to clear it. ### Is one beep on a Hoshizaki dispenser the same as on a cuber? No. On DCM cubelet dispensers one beep is a low-water alarm that clears when water returns; on KM cubers it is the high-temperature lockout. --- **[Read on the site: Hoshizaki 1 beep: evaporator overheated during harvest](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/hoshizaki-1-beep/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
