--- title: "Hoshizaki 3 beeps: freeze ran past the freeze timer twice" description: "What 3 beeps means on Hoshizaki 3 beeps: freeze ran past the freeze timer twices, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/hoshizaki-3-beeps/" --- # Hoshizaki 3 beeps: freeze ran past the freeze timer twice A KM freeze ends when the float switch in the water tank drops as water turns to ice. ## What 3 beeps actually means. A KM freeze ends when the float switch in the water tank drops as water turns to ice. If the float never drops before the freeze timer setting, two cycles running, the board locks out with three beeps. Hoshizaki lists a float switch stuck up, an inlet valve or hot gas valve leaking by, a pump that is not pumping, a bad expansion valve, low charge, or a weak compressor. Hoshizaki ice machine display What to do when 3 beeps shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Harvest and freeze cycle A freeze ran longer than the board allows, or a harvest started and the ice never fell. Scale on the evaporator holds the sheet to the plate, a thickness probe crusted with minerals never signals, a hot gas valve that does not open leaves the plate cold, a harvest assist that does not push, or a water curtain that swings without tripping its switch all end in this family. A cleaning cycle run by the manual often clears it; a valve or a probe is a technician's job. ### Usually leads to Ice machine harvest repair The hot gas valve, harvest assist, curtain switch and thickness probe that decide when a sheet of cubes is done and make it drop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Hoshizaki On a Hoshizaki ice machine, the technician notes every alarm signal and checks the water and condenser before pricing any part. ### Source Hoshizaki KM-231BAJ and KM-301BAJ/BWJ self-contained crescent cuber service manual, No. 73238 (archived copy of hoshizakiamerica.com) KM crescent cubers, both self-contained (KM-231, KM-301) and modular (KM-350 to KM-660), repeat the beep pattern from the control board inside the unit. DCM cubelet icemaker/dispensers (DCM-300, 500, 751, 752) repeat the beeps every five seconds and also light an orange ALARM LED; their beep list differs from the KM list. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for 3 beeps on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Count the beeps: three means the freeze timer alarm on a KM. 02 Check that the water supply is on and the filter is not overdue, since a starving or overfilling tank upsets the float. 03 Book a visit; the float switch, valves and cooling system are checked with the panel off. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine harvest repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-harvest-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do On DCM cubelet dispensers, three beeps come from the high-pressure switch instead. On a KM this alarm is not the 1-beep high-temperature lockout. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems 3 beeps tends to arrive with. Count the beeps: three means the freeze timer alarm on a KM. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Can a dirty float switch cause 3 beeps on my Hoshizaki? Yes. A float stuck up is first on Hoshizaki's list, and cleaning the float switch is part of the service procedure. ### Why does my Hoshizaki keep filling water and then beep three times? An inlet valve leaking by keeps topping up the tank, so the float never drops and the freeze never ends. ### Is 3 beeps on a Hoshizaki dispenser the same alarm? No. On DCM dispensers three beeps mean the high-pressure switch opened, and they reset automatically when pressure falls. --- **[Read on the site: Hoshizaki 3 beeps: freeze ran past the freeze timer twice](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/hoshizaki-3-beeps/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
