The CIM control ends a freeze when the falling water level in the sump, read by its float switches, shows that the sheet of ice on the nickel-plated evaporator is built. If that has not happened in an hour, it stops and shows Error 1 as a quick red flash on the POWER LED. A high pressure cut-out opening during the freeze, a dirty or blocked condenser, a failed fan, a water problem, or a weak sealed system can all cause it. On boards before serial 2106, the same flash could also mean a long harvest. Ice-O-Matic ice machine display What to do when Error 1 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Harvest and freeze cycle A freeze ran longer than the board allows, or a harvest started and the ice never fell. Scale on the evaporator holds the sheet to the plate, a thickness probe crusted with minerals never signals, a hot gas valve that does not open leaves the plate cold, a harvest assist that does not push, or a water curtain that swings without tripping its switch all end in this family. A cleaning cycle run by the manual often clears it; a valve or a probe is a technician's job. ### Usually leads to Ice machine harvest repair The hot gas valve, harvest assist, curtain switch and thickness probe that decide when a sheet of cubes is done and make it drop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Ice-O-Matic Ice-O-Matic machines get a visit that starts at the water inlet and the distribution tube, where scale often shows up first. ### Source Ice-O-Matic Elevation Series CIM modular cuber technical service manual (5/11/26) Elevation Series CIM modular cubers. Codes show as red and yellow flash patterns on the POWER and CLEAN buttons of the push pad and the board. Boards before serial 2106 grouped some limits differently. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Ice-O-Matic's own guidance for Error 1 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Clean the condenser air filter and give the head room to breathe. 02 Check that the water supply is on and the filter cartridge is current. 03 Clear the code by holding POWER and CLEAN together for three seconds; if it returns, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine harvest repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-harvest-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do A quick red flash alone is Error 1; a double red flash is Error 5, the long harvest, and a triple red flash is Error 6. It is not the thermistor, which flashes slowly and only when the unit is off. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems Error 1 tends to arrive with. Clean the condenser air filter and give the head room to breathe. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### How do I clear Error 1 on an Ice-O-Matic CIM? Hold the POWER and CLEAN buttons together for three seconds; the lights flash blue and yellow once when the codes and counters reset. If the unit stops with Error 1 again, the cause is still there. ### Can a hot kitchen cause Error 1 on an Ice-O-Matic? Yes. Ice-O-Matic ties Error 1 to the high pressure cut-out opening mid-freeze, which a hot room or a dirty condenser can cause. ### My Ice-O-Matic is older. Does Error 1 mean the same thing? Mostly. On boards before serial 2106, the same quick red flash also covered a long harvest, so a technician checks both. --- **[Read on the site: Ice-O-Matic Error 1: POWER light flashing red quickly, freeze over one hour](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/ice-o-matic-error-1/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
