--- title: "Ice-O-Matic Error 2: slow POWER flash when off, water thermistor" description: "What Error 2 means on Ice-O-Matic Error 2: slow POWER flash when off, water thermistors, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/ice-o-matic-error-2/" --- # Ice-O-Matic Error 2: slow POWER flash when off, water thermistor The thermistor in an Elevation CIM reads the water temperature in the sump and runs the anti-slush step, which pauses the pump briefly near freezing so the water does not turn to slush. ## What Error 2 actually means. The thermistor in an Elevation CIM reads the water temperature in the sump and runs the anti-slush step, which pauses the pump briefly near freezing so the water does not turn to slush. When the thermistor reading is lost, the board shows a slow POWER flash, but only while the unit is off. Ice-O-Matic ice machine display What to do when Error 2 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Sensors and bin control A sensor is telling the board something that is not true: a bin control that reads full on an empty bin, or empty while ice spills over the top, a curtain switch stuck open, a temperature sensor out of range, or an eye on a dispenser that no longer sees the cup. Scale and slime on a probe or an ultrasonic sensor cause much of it. Clearing ice piled against the bin control is a safe first step; testing and replacing a sensor is a technician's. ### Usually leads to Ice machine bin control repair The thermostat bulb, paddle, curtain switch or electronic eye that senses a full bin, adjusted or replaced so the machine stops and restarts on time. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Ice-O-Matic Ice-O-Matic machines get a visit that starts at the water inlet and the distribution tube, where scale often shows up first. ### Source Ice-O-Matic Elevation Series CIM modular cuber technical service manual (5/11/26) Elevation Series CIM modular cubers. Codes show as red and yellow flash patterns on the POWER and CLEAN buttons of the push pad and the board. Boards before serial 2106 grouped some limits differently. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Ice-O-Matic's own guidance for Error 2 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Switch the unit off and watch the POWER light: a slow flash confirms Error 2. 02 Note whether recent batches had slushy water or cloudy, soft cubes. 03 Book a visit to test and replace the thermistor. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine bin control repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-bin-control-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do Error 2 is not a freeze or harvest problem, and the slow flash appears only in the off state. A slow blue flash during operation is a restart delay, not an error. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems Error 2 tends to arrive with. Switch the unit off and watch the POWER light: a slow flash confirms Error 2. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why does Error 2 only show when my Ice-O-Matic is off? Ice-O-Matic designed the thermistor signal to appear in the off state, so switching the unit off is how you read it. ### Can Error 2 cause slushy ice in an Ice-O-Matic? It can. Without the thermistor, the anti-slush pause cannot work, and slush can form in the sump. ### Is Error 2 on an Ice-O-Matic a big repair? The thermistor is a small part. The visit mostly confirms that the thermistor, not its plug, is the problem. --- **[Read on the site: Ice-O-Matic Error 2: slow POWER flash when off, water thermistor](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/ice-o-matic-error-2/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
