Error 6 combines Errors 1 and 5. When both limits are reached, the cause is often shared: a very dirty evaporator, a water supply problem that leaves the plate half-built, or a cooling system too weak to both freeze and release. Ice-O-Matic ice machine display What to do when Error 6 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Harvest and freeze cycle A freeze ran longer than the board allows, or a harvest started and the ice never fell. Scale on the evaporator holds the sheet to the plate, a thickness probe crusted with minerals never signals, a hot gas valve that does not open leaves the plate cold, a harvest assist that does not push, or a water curtain that swings without tripping its switch all end in this family. A cleaning cycle run by the manual often clears it; a valve or a probe is a technician's job. ### Usually leads to Ice machine harvest repair The hot gas valve, harvest assist, curtain switch and thickness probe that decide when a sheet of cubes is done and make it drop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Ice-O-Matic Ice-O-Matic machines get a visit that starts at the water inlet and the distribution tube, where scale often shows up first. ### Source Ice-O-Matic Elevation Series CIM modular cuber technical service manual (5/11/26) Elevation Series CIM modular cubers. Codes show as red and yellow flash patterns on the POWER and CLEAN buttons of the push pad and the board. Boards before serial 2106 grouped some limits differently. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Ice-O-Matic's own guidance for Error 6 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check water supply and the condenser filter first, since they affect both cycles. 02 Plan a full cleaning with a nickel-safe cleaner. 03 Clear the code with POWER and CLEAN held for three seconds; if Error 6 returns, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine harvest repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-harvest-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do Error 6 is not two separate failures; it is a single signal for both limits. It is not the triple red and yellow flash of Error 7. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems Error 6 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice machine before anyone is booked. Check water supply and the condenser filter first, since they affect both cycles. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why did my Ice-O-Matic go straight to Error 6? Something is slowing both halves of the cycle. A heavily scaled plate and weak water flow are the first things to check. ### Is Error 6 worse than Error 1 on an Ice-O-Matic? It points to a problem touching both freeze and harvest, so it usually needs a closer look than a single limit. ### How do I tell Error 6 from Error 7 on an Ice-O-Matic? Error 6 flashes red three times. Error 7 flashes both red and yellow three times. --- **[Read on the site: Ice-O-Matic Error 6: triple red flash, both freeze and harvest limits hit](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/ice-o-matic-error-6/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
