A Manitowoc harvest ends when the falling slab opens the water curtain or ice damper. If that does not happen in time, the board returns to freezing and counts the long harvest; on older Indigo boards the head keeps going for hundreds of them, on Indigo NXT it stops after three. Scale, a head that is out of level, cold air around the head, a curtain that cannot swing, a weak hot gas valve or a harvest assist that does not push are the usual reasons. Manitowoc ice machine display What to do when E02 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Harvest and freeze cycle A freeze ran longer than the board allows, or a harvest started and the ice never fell. Scale on the evaporator holds the sheet to the plate, a thickness probe crusted with minerals never signals, a hot gas valve that does not open leaves the plate cold, a harvest assist that does not push, or a water curtain that swings without tripping its switch all end in this family. A cleaning cycle run by the manual often clears it; a valve or a probe is a technician's job. ### Usually leads to Ice machine harvest repair The hot gas valve, harvest assist, curtain switch and thickness probe that decide when a sheet of cubes is done and make it drop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Manitowoc With a Manitowoc ice machine, the technician notes what the controls report and checks the bin control before opening the cycle for testing. ### Source Manitowoc Indigo Series air, water and remote condenser ice machines technician's handbook (Part Number 000014794) Older Indigo firmware (5.009 and earlier) keeps running through up to 500 long harvests and lights SL#2; Indigo NXT stops after three long harvests of seven minutes and runs a water thaw first. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Manitowoc's own guidance for E02 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Open the front and look at the water curtain: it must be in place and swing freely, with no cubes wedged against it. 02 Check that the room around the head is at least 35 °F and that the head sits level. 03 Restart with the On/Off button and watch one harvest; if the slab still hangs on the plate, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine harvest repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-harvest-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E02 does not mean the freeze was slow; that is E01. A curtain left off for a long time is logged separately as E12. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems E02 tends to arrive with. Open the front and look at the water curtain: it must be in place and swing freely, with no cubes wedged against it. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### My Manitowoc shows E02 but the bin has ice in it. Why? The head can still make ice while logging long harvests, because older Indigo boards keep running for a long while before they stop. The entry is a warning that each slab is hanging on the plate longer than it should. ### Can a cold room cause E02 on a Manitowoc? Yes. The manual lists low air temperature around the head as a cause of slow release and asks for at least 35 °F. A head in an unheated storeroom in winter is worth moving or warming before parts are ordered. ### What is the water thaw I see after a long harvest on an Indigo NXT? When the curtain does not open in seven minutes, Indigo NXT stops the compressor and circulates water over the plate for roughly an hour or more to free the slab, then tries another freeze. It is a recovery step, not a repair. --- **[Read on the site: Manitowoc E02: harvest ran too long, ice slab not releasing](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/manitowoc-e02/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
