The high pressure cutout is a safety switch on the discharge side of the sealed system. It opens when head pressure climbs too far, which usually follows a blocked condenser, a failed fan motor, lost condenser water, or a remote condenser that is iced, dirty or blocked. Three trips in a short span are logged as E05. Manitowoc ice machine display What to do when E05 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Condenser and airflow The machine could not shed its heat. An air filter packed with lint, a condenser coil furred with grease and dust, a fan motor that no longer spins, a machine pushed into a hot corner without its clearance, a water-cooled condenser whose regulating valve starves it, or a remote condenser on a roof blocked by leaves all show up here. Washing the air filter and freeing the space around the machine clears many cases; a fan motor or a valve means a visit. ### Usually leads to Ice machine condenser and fan repair Air-cooled coils, fan motors and filters, water-cooled regulating valves and rooftop remote condensers, cleaned or repaired so the ice machine can shed its heat. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Manitowoc With a Manitowoc ice machine, the technician notes what the controls report and checks the bin control before opening the cycle for testing. ### Source Manitowoc Indigo Series air, water and remote condenser ice machines technician's handbook (Part Number 000014794) Indigo event table; the display text is HPC. Manitowoc lists a tripping high pressure cutout with a dirty condenser coil in the Indigo NXT troubleshooting chart. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Manitowoc's own guidance for E05 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Clean the condenser air filter and make sure nothing blocks the air path around the head. 02 On a water-cooled head, check that the condenser water supply is on. 03 Do not keep restarting a head that trips repeatedly; switch it off and book a visit so the pressures can be read. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine condenser and fan repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-condenser-and-fan-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E05 does not come from a hot room alone as long as the condenser can breathe; a temperature reading on the liquid line is E04. It is not a leak signal, although an overcharged system can cause it. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems E05 tends to arrive with. Clean the condenser air filter and make sure nothing blocks the air path around the head. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why does my Manitowoc head click off and log E05 on hot afternoons? Head pressure rises with the air the condenser breathes. If that air is already hot, or the coil is dusty, the switch opens. Cleaning the filter helps; a head that trips anyway needs its fan and charge checked. ### Can I reset the high pressure switch on my Manitowoc myself? The switch resets on its own once pressure drops. Anything beyond clearing the air path means working inside the head near live parts and the sealed system, which is a job for a visit. ### Does E05 damage the compressor on a Manitowoc? The switch exists to protect it, but repeated high-pressure running shortens its life. That is why the board stops the head after three trips. --- **[Read on the site: Manitowoc E05: high pressure switch opened three times](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/manitowoc-e05/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
