--- title: "Manitowoc E28: automatic cleaning accessory not found" description: "What E28 means on Manitowoc E28: automatic cleaning accessory not founds, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/manitowoc-e28/" --- # Manitowoc E28: automatic cleaning accessory not found AuCS is Manitowoc's automatic cleaning accessory, which runs remedial cleaning cycles on its own. ## What E28 actually means. AuCS is Manitowoc's automatic cleaning accessory, which runs remedial cleaning cycles on its own. If the cleaning option is selected but the accessory board is missing or not connected, the control logs E28. It clears itself as soon as the hardware is detected, and ice making is not affected. Manitowoc ice machine display What to do when E28 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Nothing is broken; the control is reporting a state someone chose or a routine it runs: a clean or sanitize reminder counting the hours since the last cycle, a delay of a few minutes after power returns before the pump and compressor start, a bin-full light while the bin control is satisfied, or a standby or off mode someone chose at the keypad. No part is needed; finishing the cycle the light asks for, waiting out the delay or the key sequence from the manual ends it. ### Usually leads to No repair Check whether this head actually has the AuCS accessory fitted. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Manitowoc With a Manitowoc ice machine, the technician notes what the controls report and checks the bin control before opening the cycle for testing. ### Source Manitowoc Indigo Series air, water and remote condenser ice machines technician's handbook (Part Number 000014794) Indigo heads with the AuCS option in the menu; logged only, with no alarm. Indigo NXT offers the iAuCS version of the accessory. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Manitowoc's own guidance for E28 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check whether this head actually has the AuCS accessory fitted. 02 If it does not, have the AuCS setting turned off in the menu so the entry stops appearing. 03 If the accessory is fitted but still not found, book a visit to check its cable. ### Cleared? The light or code is gone, and the machine fills, freezes and drops a full batch of cubes into the bin with no new part. If it returns within a week, or the clean light comes back straight after a cleaning cycle, mention that in the booking. ### What not to do E28 is not a sign that the head is dirty or needs cleaning now. It also does not stop ice production. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems E28 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice machine before anyone is booked. Check whether this head actually has the AuCS accessory fitted. ### Does E28 mean my Manitowoc skipped its cleaning? It means automatic cleaning could not run because the accessory was not found. The six-month de-scale and sanitize Manitowoc asks for still has to be done by hand. ### Can I ignore E28 on a Manitowoc? If no AuCS is fitted, the entry is harmless, but turn the setting off so real alerts are easier to spot. ### Does AuCS replace a full cleaning on a Manitowoc? No. It runs remedial cleanings between the full de-scale and sanitize, which still needs the head and bin taken apart. --- **[Read on the site: Manitowoc E28: automatic cleaning accessory not found](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/manitowoc-e28/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
