On a Prodigy cuber, 1 means the freeze passed its maximum time; a blinking 1 means the controller is retrying and a steady 1 means it gave up after three long freezes in a row. On a CM3 nugget or flake machine, the photo eyes in the ice chute saw no ice within the allowed time; a blinking 1 is a ten-minute pause and retry, a steady 1 is a shutdown after three misses. Both come down to water, airflow, or a weak cooling system. Scotsman ice machine display What to do when 1 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Harvest and freeze cycle A freeze ran longer than the board allows, or a harvest started and the ice never fell. Scale on the evaporator holds the sheet to the plate, a thickness probe crusted with minerals never signals, a hot gas valve that does not open leaves the plate cold, a harvest assist that does not push, or a water curtain that swings without tripping its switch all end in this family. A cleaning cycle run by the manual often clears it; a valve or a probe is a technician's job. ### Usually leads to Ice machine harvest repair The hot gas valve, harvest assist, curtain switch and thickness probe that decide when a sheet of cubes is done and make it drop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Scotsman A Scotsman visit sorts out which kind of ice the machine makes, because each kind follows a different service path. ### Source Scotsman Prodigy ELITE modular cuber service manual, MC0322 through MC2148 (January 2022) Prodigy and Prodigy ELITE cubers (MC and C models) show one character in the code display next to the lights. Prodigy flaked and nugget machines with the CM3 control (N and F models) use the same display with a different code list. Cuber maximum freeze on the ELITE is 45 minutes. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Scotsman's own guidance for 1 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check that the water supply is on and the filter cartridge is not overdue. 02 Clean the air filter in front of the condenser and clear anything blocking the intake or exhaust. 03 Restart by pressing Off and then On; if a steady 1 comes back, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine harvest repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-harvest-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do A blinking 1 is a retry, not yet a shutdown, so a machine showing it may recover by itself. On a cuber the code does not concern the curtain or harvest; that is 2. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems 1 tends to arrive with. Check that the water supply is on and the filter cartridge is not overdue. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What does a blinking 1 mean on my Scotsman Prodigy? The controller has hit the time limit once and is trying again. If later cycles finish in time, it goes back to normal; three misses in a row turn the 1 steady and stop the machine. ### Why does my Scotsman nugget machine show 1 when the bin is empty? On nugget machines the 1 comes from photo eyes in the ice chute that saw no ice. Dirty eyes, low water or a cooling problem can all cause it. ### How do I restart a Scotsman after a steady 1? Scotsman's reset is to press Off and then On. If the 1 returns, the cause is still there and a visit is needed. --- **[Read on the site: Scotsman code 1: freeze too long on a cuber, no ice sensed on a nugget machine](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/scotsman-1/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
