--- title: "Scotsman code P: preservation mode | IceMachineRepair.center" description: "What P means on Scotsman code P: preservation modes, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/scotsman-p/" --- # Scotsman code P: preservation mode The ELITE service manual lists P among the normal operating codes, next to freeze, harvest and bin full. ## What P actually means. The ELITE service manual lists P among the normal operating codes, next to freeze, harvest and bin full. It signals a mode chosen for the machine, not a malfunction. Scotsman ice machine display What to do when P shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Nothing is broken; the control is reporting a state someone chose or a routine it runs: a clean or sanitize reminder counting the hours since the last cycle, a delay of a few minutes after power returns before the pump and compressor start, a bin-full light while the bin control is satisfied, or a standby or off mode someone chose at the keypad. No part is needed; finishing the cycle the light asks for, waiting out the delay or the key sequence from the manual ends it. ### Usually leads to No repair Ask whoever manages the machine whether preservation mode was chosen on purpose, for example for a slow season. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Scotsman A Scotsman visit sorts out which kind of ice the machine makes, because each kind follows a different service path. ### Source Scotsman Prodigy ELITE modular cuber service manual, MC0322 through MC2148 (January 2022) Prodigy ELITE cubers (MC models). Older Prodigy cubers and CM3 nugget machines do not list P. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Scotsman's own guidance for P on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Ask whoever manages the machine whether preservation mode was chosen on purpose, for example for a slow season. 02 If it was, leave the machine as it is; nothing is wrong. 03 If nobody set it and the machine will not return to making ice, book a visit to check the settings. ### Cleared? The light or code is gone, and the machine fills, freezes and drops a full batch of cubes into the bin with no new part. If it returns within a week, or the clean light comes back straight after a cleaning cycle, mention that in the booking. ### What not to do P is not an error and does not mean the machine has failed. It is also not the same as b, the full-bin stop. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems P tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice machine before anyone is booked. Ask whoever manages the machine whether preservation mode was chosen on purpose, for example for a slow season. ### Why is my Scotsman showing P instead of making ice? It has been placed in preservation mode, which is a setting rather than a failure. If nobody chose it, book a visit so the settings can be checked. ### Is P a failure on a Scotsman? No. Scotsman lists it with the normal operating codes. ### Does P appear on older Scotsman cubers? No. It is on the Prodigy ELITE list, not on the older Prodigy cuber list from 2010. --- **[Read on the site: Scotsman code P: preservation mode | IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/scotsman-p/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
