--- title: "True E22: a freeze cycle ran over 40 minutes" description: "What E22 means on True E22: a freeze cycle ran over 40 minutess, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/true-e22/" --- # True E22: a freeze cycle ran over 40 minutes A True head sets a maximum length for each freeze cycle. ## What E22 actually means. A True head sets a maximum length for each freeze cycle. When a cycle runs past 40 minutes the control logs E22, and True's service steps go straight to whether the compressor is running and what the high- and low-side pressures read. True Residential ice machine display What to do when E22 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Cooling system The board saw temperatures or pressures that the sealed system should never reach: a discharge line too hot, a suction side that never cools, or a compressor that starts and stops on its overload. A dirty condenser can push a healthy system into this family, so it is the first thing to rule out; a low charge, a leak or a tired compressor is not. On many current machines that system holds R-290, which is flammable, and only a technician opens it. ### Usually leads to Ice machine compressor and sealed system repair The compressor, its start parts and the sealed system, including machines on flammable R-290, tested for pressure and leaks and repaired by the maker's procedure. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make True Residential True ice machine visits begin with the installation: the supply, the drain fall and the clearance the machine needs to cool. ### Source True Ice TCIM modular ice machine service manual (TEC_TM_198 Rev A) True Ice TCIM air-cooled modular heads (TCIM-422 to TCIM-830), touchscreen control; the code shows on the active alarm screen and stays in the alarm log. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for E22 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Confirm the head has power and the condenser fan is turning. 02 Wash the air filter and clear space around the head, since a hot condenser lengthens freeze time. 03 Book a visit if E22 repeats; the compressor and system pressures need gauges, and the system holds R-290, which is not something to open yourself. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine compressor and sealed system repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-compressor-and-sealed-system-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E22 is about freezing time, not about harvest; ice that forms but will not drop is E26 or E31. A slow freeze with the sump short of water may show E27 or E29 first. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems E22 tends to arrive with. Confirm the head has power and the condenser fan is turning. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Does E22 mean my True compressor has failed? Not necessarily. A blocked condenser or poor water flow over the evaporator also stretches freeze time, and those are checked first. ### Why are my cubes thin when E22 appears? If the head cannot pull enough heat, the ice forms slowly and the sheet may be thin or uneven. That is the same cooling problem showing up in the ice. ### Is it safe to keep using ice from a True with E22? The ice itself is fine. The issue is output: the head will fall behind demand until the cause is found. --- **[Read on the site: True E22: a freeze cycle ran over 40 minutes](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/true-e22/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
