--- title: "True E31: harvest pressure went too high" description: "What E31 means on True E31: harvest pressure went too highs, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/true-e31/" --- # True E31: harvest pressure went too high In harvest, a True head opens a hot gas valve to warm the evaporator. ## What E31 actually means. In harvest, a True head opens a hot gas valve to warm the evaporator. If high-side pressure keeps rising past 165 psi instead, the control suspects the valve and sends technicians to its no-harvest, frozen-in flow chart. True Residential ice machine display What to do when E31 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Harvest and freeze cycle A freeze ran longer than the board allows, or a harvest started and the ice never fell. Scale on the evaporator holds the sheet to the plate, a thickness probe crusted with minerals never signals, a hot gas valve that does not open leaves the plate cold, a harvest assist that does not push, or a water curtain that swings without tripping its switch all end in this family. A cleaning cycle run by the manual often clears it; a valve or a probe is a technician's job. ### Usually leads to Ice machine harvest repair The hot gas valve, harvest assist, curtain switch and thickness probe that decide when a sheet of cubes is done and make it drop. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make True Residential True ice machine visits begin with the installation: the supply, the drain fall and the clearance the machine needs to cool. ### Source True Ice TCIM modular ice machine service manual (TEC_TM_198 Rev A) True Ice TCIM air-cooled modular heads (TCIM-422 to TCIM-830), touchscreen control; the code shows on the active alarm screen and stays in the alarm log. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for E31 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Turn the head off and check whether ice is frozen onto the evaporator. 02 Let any stuck ice melt on its own rather than forcing it off. 03 Book a visit; the hot gas valve and harvest pressures are tested with gauges on a flammable R-290 system. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine harvest repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-harvest-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do E31 is about the hot gas valve during harvest, while E26 is a harvest that ran long for any reason. Neither is a water alarm, even though a frozen-in evaporator can look like one. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems E31 tends to arrive with. Turn the head off and check whether ice is frozen onto the evaporator. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What does the hot gas valve do on a True ice machine? It sends warm refrigerant gas to the evaporator during harvest so the ice sheet releases. If it fails, ice stays on the plate. ### Can E31 and E26 appear together on my True? Yes. A valve that will not open leads to a long harvest, so both can be in the log. ### Is E31 something I can clear myself? You can restart the head, but a valve problem will bring it back. Book a visit so the valve can be tested. --- **[Read on the site: True E31: harvest pressure went too high](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/true-e31/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
