The nugget machine flushes its reservoir through a drain valve to carry minerals away. When the valve opens, the lower level sensor should see the water go within two minutes. If it does not, the DRAIN lamp blinks and Er16 is recorded; the control retries after five minutes. U-Line ice machine display · also shown as DRAIN lamp blinking What to do when Er16 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Drain and pump Water that should have left the machine is still inside it. A gravity drain clogged with slime or scale, a line run too flat to keep up during a harvest, a drain pump whose float sticks or whose motor has stopped, or an air gap blocked at the floor sink all back water into the bin or across the floor. Checking that the drain outlet in view runs clear is a fair first step; the pump and the line inside the cabinet are a visit. ### Usually leads to Ice machine drain and pump repair Gravity drains, air gaps, drain pumps and their lines, cleared or replaced when meltwater backs up into the bin or reaches the floor. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make U-Line U-Line ice machine visits in a home bar start at the drain, since a slow line affects both the ice and the floor around it. ### Source U-Line URNP115 15-inch nugget ice machine user guide U-Line 1 Class RNP115 and Outdoor ONP115 nugget ice machines, which report through the ICE, NO WATER and DRAIN lamps beside the light button. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from U-Line's own guidance for Er16 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check the drain hose behind the unit for kinks and make sure the drain pump outlet is not blocked. 02 Check the mesh in the bottom of the ice bin; U-Line asks for it to be cleaned if the bin fills with water. 03 If the lamp keeps blinking, book a visit for the drain valve and the lower level sensor. ### Still there? Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do A steady DRAIN lamp is normal and just means the drain valve is open at that moment. Blinking with other lamps is a different pattern, such as the ice-full sensor pattern of NO WATER and DRAIN together. ## What you may notice with it. Check the drain hose behind the unit for kinks and make sure the drain pump outlet is not blocked. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why is the DRAIN lamp on steady on my U-Line nugget machine? That is normal: it lights while the drain valve is open. Only blinking signals Er16. ### Can a clogged drain pump cause Er16 on a U-Line? If the pump cannot clear the water, the reservoir drains slowly and the lamp can blink. Clear the hose and outlet first. ### Should I keep using a U-Line nugget machine with Er16? If water is collecting in the bin or around the unit, turn it off and close the water valve until it is checked. --- **[Read on the site: U-Line nugget ice machine with the DRAIN lamp blinking (Er16)](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/u-line-er16/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
