The machine measures the air entering the condenser to adjust how it runs. When that sensor reads as an open or shorted circuit, the control stops and blinks the Ice and Drain lamps until the sensor is repaired. Viking ice machine display · also shown as Air temperature sensor error What to do when ICE and DRAIN lamps blinking shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Sensors and bin control A sensor is telling the board something that is not true: a bin control that reads full on an empty bin, or empty while ice spills over the top, a curtain switch stuck open, a temperature sensor out of range, or an eye on a dispenser that no longer sees the cup. Scale and slime on a probe or an ultrasonic sensor cause much of it. Clearing ice piled against the bin control is a safe first step; testing and replacing a sensor is a technician's. ### Usually leads to Ice machine bin control repair The thermostat bulb, paddle, curtain switch or electronic eye that senses a full bin, adjusted or replaced so the machine stops and restarts on time. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Viking A Viking ice machine call covers the panel-ready install, the drain and the water side before the cooling system is looked at. ### Source Viking FNIU515D nugget ice machine Install / Use & Care manual Viking FNIU515D nugget ice machine. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for ICE and DRAIN lamps blinking on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Turn the machine off and on once. 02 Check that nothing has been pushed into the lower front grille where the condenser air enters. 03 If the pattern returns, book a visit for a sensor test. ### Still there? Turn the machine off and on once. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Where is the air temperature sensor on a Viking nugget ice machine? In front of the condenser, behind the lower front panel and kick plate. ### Can cleaning the condenser fix the Viking Ice and Drain pattern? Only if debris disturbed the sensor. The pattern itself reports an open or shorted sensor circuit. ### Is it safe to leave my Viking plugged in with this pattern? The machine has stopped icemaking on its own; it is fine to leave it plugged in, but book a visit. --- **[Read on the site: Viking Ice and Drain lamps blinking: the air sensor at the condenser reads open or shorted](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/viking-air-temperature-sensor-error/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
