--- title: "Viking Er03: the evaporator was still warm 10 minutes into icemaking" description: "What Er03 means on Viking Er03: the evaporator was still warm 10 minutes into icemakings, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/viking-er03/" --- # Viking Er03: the evaporator was still warm 10 minutes into icemaking Er03 is the earlier check of the same evaporator temperature that Er01 watches at 30 minutes. ## What Er03 actually means. Er03 is the earlier check of the same evaporator temperature that Er01 watches at 30 minutes. Viking's table gives both the same actions: a refrigerant leak check, a look at the sensor and its attachment, and a restart once cooling is restored. Viking ice machine display · also shown as ICE lamp blinking, Evaporator temperature error What to do when Er03 shows on the ice machine ### Kind of code Cooling system The board saw temperatures or pressures that the sealed system should never reach: a discharge line too hot, a suction side that never cools, or a compressor that starts and stops on its overload. A dirty condenser can push a healthy system into this family, so it is the first thing to rule out; a low charge, a leak or a tired compressor is not. On many current machines that system holds R-290, which is flammable, and only a technician opens it. ### Usually leads to Ice machine compressor and sealed system repair The compressor, its start parts and the sealed system, including machines on flammable R-290, tested for pressure and leaks and repaired by the maker's procedure. ### Shows up as Ice Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing. ### Make Viking A Viking ice machine call covers the panel-ready install, the drain and the water side before the cooling system is looked at. ### Source Viking FNIU515D nugget ice machine Install / Use & Care manual Viking FNIU515D nugget ice machine. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for Er03 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Note how the Ice lamp blinks: a steady one-second blink with the mode switch on cleaning is the wash cycle, not Er03. 02 Clear the front grille and make sure the room is within the manual's range. 03 If the Ice lamp keeps blinking in normal icemaking, turn the machine off and book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice machine compressor and sealed system repair](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/ice-machine-compressor-and-sealed-system-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do A blinking Ice lamp alone has two harmless meanings on this model as well: the wash cycle and a full bin. Er03 is the one that appears during normal icemaking and does not clear as ice is removed. ## What you may notice with it. The ice machine problems Er03 tends to arrive with. Note how the Ice lamp blinks: a steady one-second blink with the mode switch on cleaning is the wash cycle, not Er03. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### How do I tell Viking Er03 from a full bin? With a full bin the Ice lamp is on about 2 seconds and off 1 second, and it stops once ice is used. Er03 appears with room in the bin and stays. ### Is Viking Er03 less serious than Er01? It is the same temperature check taken earlier, at 10 minutes instead of 30. Both point to cooling or its sensor. ### Can I restart my Viking after Er03? Viking says to restore power after the cooling problem is solved, so one restart is reasonable, but repeated Er03 needs a technician. --- **[Read on the site: Viking Er03: the evaporator was still warm 10 minutes into icemaking](https://icemachinerepair.center/error-codes/viking-er03/)** **[Book a visit with IceMachineRepair.center](https://icemachinerepair.center/schedule/)**
