Every acre of Battery Park City is reclaimed land, created in the 1970s from over 3 million cubic yards of rock and soil, largely from the World Trade Center excavation. ## What Battery Park City does to an ice machine. The neighborhood's hotels include the 463-suite Conrad New York, which has a ballroom and a conference center. Before Hurricane Sandy, the city's mandatory evacuation order for Zone A covered the southern tip of Manhattan. No reading in Central Park's books tops the 106°F measured there on July 9, 1936. [All of New York Metro](https://icemachinerepair.center/locations/new-york/) ### Tower living A tower's lobby bar, rooftop lounge and residents' club often share modular ice machines whose condensers sit on the roof, and a long remote line that loses its charge or its fan shows up downstairs as a head that freezes slowly and a bin that never fills. ### Newer developments Newly built houses may come with an undercounter ice machine at the bar whose drain line was set with too little fall, and that shows up in the first months as water standing in the bin or a gurgle after each harvest. ### On the water Salt air eats the fins of an air-cooled condenser on a waterfront bar's or a beach club's ice machine, and once the coil flakes the machine runs hot and makes less ice every summer, so coastal visits start at the condenser and its fan. ## A visit in Battery Park City.
