What the kitchens here do to ice machines, the areas we cover, and how to book." url: "https://icemachinerepair.center/locations/south-florida/" --- Miami / South Florida, FL # Ice machine repair in Miami / South Florida. South Florida's ice machines serve beach hotels, rooftop bars, restaurants and condo towers in heat and humidity that rarely let up. Salt air corrodes condensers and fans near the coast, remote condensers on roofs take sun and hurricane wind, and after a storm outage the ice is thrown out and the machine cleaned and sanitized before it serves drinks again. ## What Miami / South Florida does to an ice machine. NOAA's long-term dew point at Miami International Airport averages above 70 °F from June through September and tops out at 73.8 °F in August. Florida's earliest power stations were built mainly to make ice, selling spare electricity during off-hours, and Florida Power & Light was formed in 1925 to replace the Miami Beach Electric Company. About 98 percent of electrical customers in the Miami metro, some 2.5 million subscribers, lost power when Hurricane Wilma swept through in October 2005. PortMiami, the largest passenger port in the world, handles more than 7.2 million cruise passengers a year. The counties ### Tower living Building rules usually send an ice machine's drain to a floor sink or a standpipe through a long run of pipe, so a slow drain in a tower is found by following that line and its air gap, not by pulling the machine out of its opening. ### On the water After a hurricane the power may stay off for days, and ice in a bin that sat warm and then refroze is thrown out, the bin washed and sanitized, and the machine checked for storm water in its base before it makes ice for drinks again. ### Seasonal houses A seasonal house or a beach rental often has an undercounter ice machine that sat off for months, and its water trough and bin can hold stale water and a film of slime, so the first visit of the season runs a full cleaning and sanitizing before any ice is served. ### Home bars with clear ice Kitchen designers often place the clear-ice machine far from any floor drain, which means a drain pump hidden in the cabinet, and the pump's check valve and vent line are the first stop when water collects under a spotless island. ## The work, in Miami / South Florida. Ten ice machine repairs, cheapest first, each with what Miami / South Florida changes about it. [What we do](https://icemachinerepair.center/services/) ### Ice machine diagnostic visit In Miami and along the beaches the visit often begins on a roof, where the remote condenser of a hotel or a tower restaurant bakes in sun and salt air, then comes down to the head and the bin to watch one complete cycle. ### Ice machine cleaning and sanitizing Beach hotels and rooftop bars in South Florida run their ice machines in heat that rarely lets up, and the mold and pink film that grow in the dark of a bin are cleared with a full clean and sanitize using only the products and strengths the maker names. ### Ice machine water valve and filter repair In a Miami tower restaurant the water reaching an ice machine has climbed many floors through booster pumps, and a pressure swing can make an inlet valve chatter or let water seep past it; the visit tests the valve and the filter against the building's supply. ### Ice machine harvest repair In South Florida humidity a water curtain that sticks open or a thickness probe coated with scale can stop a harvest halfway, leaving a sheet of cubes bridged across the evaporator; the visit cleans, adjusts and tests each part of the harvest. ### Ice machine condenser and fan repair A remote condenser on a Miami rooftop sits in sun, salt spray and hurricane wind, so its fan motor and blades wear and its fins corrode; the visit services the rooftop unit and makes sure debris from the last storm is out of the coil. ### Ice machine drain and pump repair In a Miami tower, water backing up from an ice machine's drain runs to the slab and the unit below, so the visit checks the air gap, the trap and the line to the standpipe, and replaces a pump that labors. ### Ice machine bin control repair In South Florida humidity an infrared bin sensor fogged by moisture or coated with scale may see ice that is not there and stop the machine; the visit cleans the sensor and confirms the machine starts and stops at the right levels. ### Ice dispenser mechanism repair South Florida condo and hotel dispensers stand in lobbies and gyms where humid air rushes in each time the chute opens, and that moisture freezes ice into clumps that jam the agitator; the visit clears the jam and checks the chute door seal. ### Ice machine control board repair Humid salt air creeps into the control boxes of South Florida ice machines, and corrosion on a board's connectors brings random stops and false codes; the visit cleans or replaces the connections and tests the board before replacing it. ### Ice machine compressor and sealed system repair Salt air corrodes the copper and brazed joints of a South Florida remote line until a small leak lets the charge escape; on a newer machine holding R-290, a hiss or a gas smell means no switches and no flame, open doors, leave the room and call 911 if the smell is strong. ## The ice machines we see most here.
