The first hospital building on the islands opened in 1927 with 250 beds, when patients moved over from the George Keller Memorial Hospital. ## What Davis Islands does to an ice machine. Tampa General Hospital, a 1,040-bed academic medical center that serves as the area's Level I trauma center, occupies the northern tip of the islands. Tampa General employs more than 8,000 people and runs one of Florida's six burn centers. Several blocks of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops line the islands, which also hold the Davis Island Yacht Club and Peter O. Knight Airport. [All of Tampa Bay](https://icemachinerepair.center/locations/tampa-bay/) ### On the water Salt air eats the fins of an air-cooled condenser on a waterfront bar's or a beach club's ice machine, and once the coil flakes the machine runs hot and makes less ice every summer, so coastal visits start at the condenser and its fan. ### Older housing stock In an older house a premium undercounter ice machine added during a remodel may drain into a cast-iron or galvanized line narrowed by decades of buildup, and melt water that backs up into the bin is traced down that old pipe first. ### Home bars with clear ice In a designed kitchen the ice machine often has its own water branch with an inline filter tucked behind a panel, and a cartridge left past its date slowly starves the water trough, so the filter's age is read before anything else. ## A visit in Davis Islands.
