What Clean light flashing
actually means.

On a first start, or a start after the head shut itself off, a KoolAire head dumps its trough through the water dump valve to the drain. If the water level does not drop, the board flashes the clean light. A dump valve blocked by scale, a kinked or clogged drain line, or a drain without a proper air gap are the likely reasons.

What to do when Clean light flashing shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Koolaire's own guidance for Clean light flashing on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the drain line behind the head for kinks, and look at the floor drain it runs to for a backup.

02

Switch the toggle to OFF and see whether water is standing in the trough.

03

If the trough stays full, book a visit to clean or replace the dump valve; do not open the drain fittings under the head yourself.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice machine drain and pump repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

The flashing clean light does not mean a cleaning is due; the six-month de-scale is kept by the calendar, not by this light. It also is not a water supply problem, which flashes the two service lights.

Questions
about Clean light flashing.

Can I clear Clean light flashing myself?
Check the drain line behind the head for kinks, and look at the floor drain it runs to for a backup. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My KoolAire clean light flashes right after I turn it on. Does it need a cleaning cycle?
Not necessarily. At start-up that flash reports a trough that did not drain. Check the drain line before starting a cleaning cycle.
Can a drain that backs up make my KoolAire flash the clean light?
Yes. If the floor drain or the head's drain line is blocked, the trough cannot empty, and the board reports it this way.
Is water on the floor linked to a flashing clean light on a KoolAire?
It can be, if a blocked drain overflows. Treat water near outlets as urgent: stay clear, switch the breaker off only from a dry panel and close the supply valve.

Still showing Clean light flashing?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
