What Er16
actually means.
The nugget machine flushes its reservoir through a drain valve to carry minerals away. When the valve opens, the lower level sensor should see the water go within two minutes. If it does not, the DRAIN lamp blinks and Er16 is recorded; the control retries after five minutes.

What to do when Er16 shows on the ice machineKind of codeDrain and pump
Water that should have left the machine is still inside it. A gravity drain clogged with slime or scale, a line run too flat to keep up during a harvest, a drain pump whose float sticks or whose motor has stopped, or an air gap blocked at the floor sink all back water into the bin or across the floor. Checking that the drain outlet in view runs clear is a fair first step; the pump and the line inside the cabinet are a visit.

Check the drain hose behind the unit for kinks and make sure the drain pump outlet is not blocked.
Check the mesh in the bottom of the ice bin; U-Line asks for it to be cleaned if the bin fills with water.
If the lamp keeps blinking, book a visit for the drain valve and the lower level sensor.
