What 6 beeps
actually means.

Hoshizaki boards protect the unit from low voltage. When the supply falls to roughly 92 volts, the board stops the unit, sounds six beeps, and turns its power LED off. It resets itself once voltage is back to normal. Long extension cords, overloaded circuits and utility sags are the usual causes.

What to do when 6 beeps shows on the ice machine

Kind of codeControl board and power

The board lost track of itself or of its power: a voltage too low or too high at startup, a relay that no longer closes, a keypad or display that stays dark, or a memory error after a surge. Switching off at the machine's own switch for a minute clears a passing glitch. A code that returns, a breaker that trips, or any hot or burning smell means the power stays off and the board, the wiring and the relays are left to a technician.

Shows up asIce Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You

An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing.

On a Hoshizaki ice machine, the technician notes every alarm signal and checks the water and condenser before pricing any part.

KM crescent cubers, both self-contained (KM-231, KM-301) and modular (KM-350 to KM-660), repeat the beep pattern from the control board inside the unit. DCM cubelet icemaker/dispensers (DCM-300, 500, 751, 752) repeat the beeps every five seconds and also light an orange ALARM LED; their beep list differs from the KM list.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Hoshizaki's own guidance for 6 beeps on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check that the unit is plugged straight into its own outlet, not an extension cord.

02

Note whether lights dim or other equipment stops at the same moment.

03

If six beeps keep returning, have an electrician check the circuit and book a visit for the unit.

What not to do

Six beeps do not mean the board has failed; it is protecting itself. The alarm is not about the compressor, though low voltage is hard on it.

Questions
about 6 beeps.

Can I clear 6 beeps myself?
Check that the unit is plugged straight into its own outlet, not an extension cord. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Hoshizaki beep six times when the walk-in cooler starts?
A large motor starting on the same circuit can pull voltage down. The board sees the dip and stops to protect itself.
Do I need to reset my Hoshizaki after 6 beeps?
No. Hoshizaki says voltage safeties reset themselves once voltage is corrected.
Why is the power LED off on my Hoshizaki during 6 beeps?
The board turns it off when voltage protection operates. It comes back on when voltage recovers.

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
