What E
actually means.
Both the Prodigy cuber and the CM3 nugget control run a self-test. If it does not pass, the display shows E. Unlike the numbered codes, E points at the controller itself.

What to do when E shows on the ice machineKind of codeControl board and power
The board lost track of itself or of its power: a voltage too low or too high at startup, a relay that no longer closes, a keypad or display that stays dark, or a memory error after a surge. Switching off at the machine's own switch for a minute clears a passing glitch. A code that returns, a breaker that trips, or any hot or burning smell means the power stays off and the board, the wiring and the relays are left to a technician.

The controller, its display, the sensors it reads and their wiring, tested when a code, a blinking light or a dead machine points there.
Shows up asIce Machine Error Code or Flashing Light: What It Is Telling You
An ice machine error code may show as a number on a small display, a pattern of blinking lights on the control board, a colored light on the front, or a machine that stops with one indicator flashing.
MakeScotsman
A Scotsman visit sorts out which kind of ice the machine makes, because each kind follows a different service path.

Prodigy and Prodigy ELITE cubers (MC and C models) show one character in the code display next to the lights. Prodigy flaked and nugget machines with the CM3 control (N and F models) use the same display with a different code list.
Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Scotsman's own guidance for E on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Switch the machine off at the Off button, wait a minute, then switch it back on.
If E returns, leave the machine off and note the model and serial number.
Book a visit; the controller will need testing and possibly replacing.

What not to do
E is not a water, harvest or cooling code. Scotsman says numbered codes on their own do not mean the controller has failed; E is the one that does.
What you may
notice with it.
The ice machine problems E tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice machine before anyone is booked.

Self Test Failed
Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. Prodigy and Prodigy ELITE cubers (MC and C models) show one character in the code display next to the lights. Prodigy flaked and nugget machines with the CM3 control (N and F models) use the same display with a different code list.

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
