What dr
actually means.

The clear ice control logs many events, but the door message is the one it puts on the display, with a tone. U-Line's advice is to make sure the door is sealing and fully closed; if dr stays after that, the door switch or its magnet needs attention.

What to do when dr shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from U-Line's own guidance for dr on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Close the door firmly and check that nothing, such as the scoop or a lump of ice, is caught in the gasket.

02

Inspect the gasket for creases or splits, and see whether the door has dropped out of line.

03

If dr stays with the door properly shut, book a visit to test the door switch.

Cleared?

The light or code is gone, and the machine fills, freezes and drops a full batch of cubes into the bin with no new part. If it returns within a week, or the clean light comes back straight after a cleaning cycle, mention that in the booking.

What not to do

dr is not a cooling or water problem, though a door left open lets warm air melt the stored ice. The other logged errors, such as thermistor or pump events, never appear on this display and have to be read in the service menu.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice machine problems dr tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice machine before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Nothing is broken; the control is reporting a state someone chose or a routine it runs: a clean or sanitize reminder counting the hours since the last cycle, a delay of a few minutes after power returns before the pump and compressor start, a bin-full light while the bin control is satisfied, or a standby or off mode someone chose at the keypad. No part is needed; finishing the cycle the light asks for, waiting out the delay or the key sequence from the manual ends it.

Questions
about dr.

Can I clear dr myself?
Close the door firmly and check that nothing, such as the scoop or a lump of ice, is caught in the gasket.
Why does my U-Line ice machine beep and show dr?
The door is being read as open. The tone and the letters stop once the door seals.
Can a U-Line ice machine show dr with the door closed?
Yes, if the door is held off the gasket or the switch has failed. Check the gasket first, then book a visit for the switch.
Does dr on a U-Line mean the ice will melt?
Only if the door really stays open, since the bin loses cold air. Fix the seal and the stored ice holds as usual.

Still showing dr?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
