What °F / °C symbol flashing
actually means.

Showroom mode lets a dealer light the machine without running it. The display and interior light behave normally, but the cooling never starts, so no ice is made; the same button command turns it back off.

What to do when °F / °C symbol flashing shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for °F / °C symbol flashing on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Repeat the showroom command from the manual's control guide to return to normal operation.

02

Give the machine up to a day to refill the bin once it is running normally.

03

If the symbol keeps flashing after the command, book a visit.

Cleared?

The light or code is gone, and the machine fills, freezes and drops a full batch of cubes into the bin with no new part. If it returns within a week, or the clean light comes back straight after a cleaning cycle, mention that in the booking.

What not to do

The flashing symbol is not a temperature alarm, and nothing has failed. It is also different from a brief flash of the symbol after changing the interior light setting.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Nothing is broken; the control is reporting a state someone chose or a routine it runs: a clean or sanitize reminder counting the hours since the last cycle, a delay of a few minutes after power returns before the pump and compressor start, a bin-full light while the bin control is satisfied, or a standby or off mode someone chose at the keypad. No part is needed; finishing the cycle the light asks for, waiting out the delay or the key sequence from the manual ends it.

In Viking's own words

The ºF / ºC symbol will flash. Display will be lit and interior light will function. Unit will not cool.

Questions
about °F / °C symbol flashing.

Can I clear °F / °C symbol flashing myself?
Repeat the showroom command from the manual's control guide to return to normal operation.
My new Viking ice machine lights up but never makes ice. Why?
Check for a flashing °F/°C symbol. If it is there, the machine was left in showroom mode, which keeps it from cooling.
How do I leave showroom mode on a Viking clear-ice machine?
Repeat the same button hold that turns it on, as listed in the manual's control guide.
Does the °F/°C symbol flash for other reasons on a Viking?
Briefly, yes: it flashes for a moment after you change the interior light setting. A symbol that keeps flashing is showroom mode.

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
