What E3
actually means.

The newer Atosa control reads the temperature of the water it freezes. If that sensor is unplugged or open, the board shows E3 and stops. Atosa's steps are to check the sensor connection and then have it serviced.

What to do when E3 shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Atosa's own guidance for E3 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Switch the machine off and on once to see if E3 returns.

02

If the machine was just cleaned, mention it at booking, since parts removed for cleaning sit near the sensor wiring.

03

Book a visit to reconnect or replace the sensor.

It usually turns into ice machine bin control repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

On the display models E3 is not a water shortage, which is E5. The older Y-series manual used the label E3 for other protections, so it does not apply here.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice machine problems E3 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice machine before anyone is booked.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. YRS, YRM, YRU, YDS and YRL display series (2025 manual). The earlier YR-AP-161 manual gives E3 two different meanings in two sections, so its LED board is not covered by this entry.

Questions
about E3.

Can I clear E3 myself?
Switch the machine off and on once to see if E3 returns. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What does E3 mean on an Atosa ice machine with a display?
The water temperature sensor is disconnected. The machine stops until the sensor is reconnected or replaced.
My older Atosa manual says E3 is high pressure. Which is right?
Both describe different boards. The older LED board manual gives E3 two meanings; the newer display models use E3 only for the water temperature sensor.
Can I keep using my Atosa with E3 showing?
No, it will not make ice with the sensor missing. Book a visit.

Still showing E3?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
