What E9
actually means.

True reads the sump level through a small tube that carries air pressure to a sensing chip on the board. E9 points to that tube being damaged or kinked, or to the chip not seating properly, and the fill, purge and leak checks cannot work without it.

What to do when E9 shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for E9 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the head off at the touchscreen.

02

If you can see the sensing tube from the sump without removing any panel, check it for kinks or a loose end.

03

Book a visit; the tube and the board contact are checked with the covers off and power isolated.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice machine bin control repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E9 is a lost signal, not a real fill or drain problem, although it can stop both. E23, a level calculation alarm, is a different event read by a technician in the log.

Questions
about E9.

Can I clear E9 myself?
Turn the head off at the touchscreen. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How does a True ice machine know how much water is in the sump?
It uses a pneumatic sensor that turns pressure from the water column into millimeters, shown on the info screen.
Can cleaning cause E9 on my True?
A tube knocked loose or pinched while parts were out can do it. Check it gently after cleaning, without opening covers over wiring.
Will my True make ice with E9?
Not reliably. The machine depends on the level reading to fill, purge and harvest.

Still showing E9?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
