What E20
actually means.

True sets a high-pressure limit for each model between 320 and 360 psi on the HP1 transducer. When the reading crosses it, E20 is logged; the causes are the same airflow problems that raise E6, and True's first steps are the air filter, the coil and the condenser fan.

What to do when E20 shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for E20 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the air filter and wash it if it is dusty.

02

Make sure the space around the head has not been closed in by new shelving or stored goods.

03

If E20 returns after the filter is clean and the fan runs, book a visit so the coil and the transducer reading can be checked with gauges.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice machine condenser and fan repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E20 is not a signal loss from the transducer; that is E7. It also differs from E6, which uses the fixed 370 psi discharge limit rather than the model-specific HP1 limit.

Where E20 usually leads

Ice machine condenser and fan repair.

Condenser cleaning, fan motor, water regulating valve or remote condenser work · low to moderate.

Questions
about E20.

Can I clear E20 myself?
Check the air filter and wash it if it is dusty. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What is HP1 on a True ice machine?
It is the primary high-side pressure transducer, the sensor that reports condenser pressure to the control board. A second one, HP2, has its own alarm, E33.
Why does my True show E20 but not E6?
The HP1 limit can be lower than 370 psi, depending on the model, so E20 can trip first. Both point to heat not leaving the condenser.
Does reversing the fan with the RCU key help with E20?
The RCU key reverses the condenser fans to blow dust out of the coil, and True puts it on the main screen for that reason. It helps with light dust, not with grease or a failed fan.

Still showing E20?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
