What E26
actually means.

A True head knows a harvest is complete when the falling sheet swings the bin switch open. E26 means that did not happen three times in a row, which points to a switch stuck closed, an evaporator frozen solid or a sheet that is not releasing, sometimes linked to the refrigerant charge.

What to do when E26 shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for E26 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the head off and look at the evaporator: note whether a full sheet is stuck on it.

02

Check that the bin switch or flap moves freely and is not jammed by ice.

03

Book a visit if the sheet is frozen on; the harvest system and charge need testing, and ice should never be pried off the evaporator.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice machine harvest repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E26 is about harvest, not about a full bin; a full bin simply stops the head. A hot gas valve problem during harvest has its own alarm, E31.

Where E26 usually leads

Ice machine harvest repair.

Thickness probe, curtain switch, harvest assist and hot gas valve · low to moderate.

Questions
about E26.

Can I clear E26 myself?
Turn the head off and look at the evaporator: note whether a full sheet is stuck on it. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
My True shows E26 and there is a solid block of ice on the evaporator. What now?
Turn it off and let it melt; do not chip at it. Then book a visit, because a frozen-in evaporator means the harvest is not working.
Can the bin switch alone cause E26?
Yes. True's first check is a bin switch with contacts stuck closed.
Does E26 mean the bin is full?
No. A full bin holds the switch in a different way and stops the head without this alarm.

Still showing E26?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
