What E12
actually means.

T1 sits at the evaporator outlet and tracks how cold the plate gets. When it reads over 113°F, True's first suspects are warm incoming water and a hot room, then the probe itself.

What to do when E12 shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for E12 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check that the head is plumbed to a cold water line, not a hot or mixed one.

02

Check the room temperature and airflow around the head.

03

If the water and room are normal, book a visit so T1 can be measured with a meter.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice machine compressor and sealed system repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E12 is a high reading, while E13 is the opposite limit, below -20°F, and E1 means T1 is open or shorted. It does not mean the machine is harvesting too long; that is E26.

Questions
about E12.

Can I clear E12 myself?
Check that the head is plumbed to a cold water line, not a hot or mixed one. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can a hot water connection cause E12 on a True ice machine?
Yes. True asks for the unit to be supplied by cold water, and a crossed line after plumbing work is a known cause.
Is E12 a probe problem on my True?
Sometimes. The probe is measured once the water supply and the room have been ruled out.
Will the machine keep running with E12?
Treat it as a sign the head is not cooling the plate. Fix the water supply first, then watch whether ice production returns.

Still showing E12?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
