What E6
actually means.

The control watches the pressure leaving the compressor and raises E6 once it goes above 370 psi. On an air-cooled True head that almost always means the condenser is not shedding heat, because of a clogged air filter, a dirty coil or a fan that is not turning.

What to do when E6 shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from True Residential's own guidance for E6 on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the head off at the touchscreen and slide out the air filter; wash it in warm water with a neutral cleaner and let it dry before refitting.

02

Clear boxes, bags or stored stock away from the air intake and outlet so the head can breathe.

03

Restart ice making and watch for the condenser fan to turn; if it does not, or E6 comes back, book a visit for the coil and the fan motor.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice machine condenser and fan repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E6 reads the pressure itself, while E20 is the separate high-pressure limit on the HP1 transducer and E7 means that transducer lost its signal. A hot room can push pressure up too, which is why E14 for high ambient temperature often appears alongside it.

Questions
about E6.

Can I clear E6 myself?
Turn the head off at the touchscreen and slide out the air filter; wash it in warm water with a neutral cleaner and let it dry before refitting. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can I clean the condenser coil on a True ice machine myself?
The air filter is yours to wash, monthly per True's schedule. A coil that is caked with grease needs chemical cleaning, which True leaves to a service professional.
Why did E6 show up on my True ice machine in summer?
Warmer room air and a filter that has been collecting dust all season both raise head pressure. Cleaning the filter usually clears it, and a repeat in hot weather points at the coil or fan.
Will E6 damage my True compressor?
The alarm exists to stop the machine before high pressure does harm. Running repeatedly into it is what wears a compressor, so a code that keeps returning deserves a visit.

Still showing E6?

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
