Follett HI PRESSURE: the ice machine shut down because it could not shed heat

The head pressure on a Follett climbs when the condenser cannot get rid of heat: a clogged grille, a fan that is not turning, a hot room or exhaust air circling back into the intake.

What HI PRESSURE
actually means.

The head pressure on a Follett climbs when the condenser cannot get rid of heat: a clogged grille, a fan that is not turning, a hot room or exhaust air circling back into the intake. Above 425 psi the board shuts down; after the delay, and once pressure is back below 295 psi, it restarts on its own.

What to do when HI PRESSURE shows on the ice machine

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Follett's own guidance for HI PRESSURE on its ice machines. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Clear anything stacked against the front or back grilles; air-cooled heads need about 18 inches between discharge and intake.

02

Vacuum or brush the condenser grille, which Follett asks for monthly on air-cooled machines.

03

Check the room temperature; Follett wants it below 100 F.

04

If HI PRESSURE returns with clean grilles and a cool room, book a visit to check the fan and the condenser.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice machine condenser and fan repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

HI PRESSURE is not a water problem and turning the water supply off and on will not affect it. It is also not HI AMPS, which is the auger motor rather than the condenser.

Where HI PRESSURE usually leads

Ice machine condenser and fan repair.

Condenser cleaning, fan motor, water regulating valve or remote condenser work · low to moderate.

In Follett's own words

Should the refrigeration pressure rise above 425 psi, the machine will shut down and the TIME DELAY and HIGH PRESSURE will be illuminated.

Questions
about HI PRESSURE.

Can I clear HI PRESSURE myself?
Clear anything stacked against the front or back grilles; air-cooled heads need about 18 inches between discharge and intake. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Follett show HI PRESSURE only in summer?
A warm room or a ceiling space that heats up raises condenser pressure, and Follett wants the air around the machine below 100 F. Better ventilation or moving the exhaust away from the intake often ends it.
How often should I clean the condenser on a Follett ice machine?
Follett asks for the air-cooled condenser to be vacuumed or brushed monthly.
Does a water-cooled Follett show HI PRESSURE too?
Yes. On a water-cooled machine the usual reasons are low condenser water flow or a regulating valve set wrong, which a technician checks.

A booking with a code goes further when it carries the light or code copied as it appeared, the model and serial off the data plate, and a word on whether cubes still fall into the bin. With those three in hand, our office can match the probable part to your machine the same afternoon.
