Who writes
the guides.

The ice machine pages here are put together by the technicians who answer calls to bars, restaurants, offices, clinics, hotels and larger homes. A topic gets written when the same complaint keeps arriving with bookings: a bin that stays half empty, cubes that come out thin or hollow, a machine that hums and never drops a batch, film or slime inside the bin, or a drain that sends water back onto the floor.

We write about machines our own crew opens and repairs, and a code on a display is explained only once its maker has put that meaning in writing. When a sentence leans on a manual, the manual is linked next to it; when it leans on what we have seen behind the panel on our calls, the page says that too.

Why an ice machine makes less ice: room heat, a clogged condenser and a slow fill

How a guide
is written.

Four rules every guide on this site follows, from the first question to the last revision.

01

Built from the calls we take

Subjects come from how owners and managers describe the machine when they book, and every guide lists the safe first checks: the water supply valve open, the filter date read, the air filter rinsed, the bin door and drain line looked at.

02

Held against the maker's manual

Cleaning and sanitizing intervals, the products a maker allows, filter changes and the meaning of each code or light are taken from that maker's own documents and linked beside the line that relies on them.

03

Water, power and flammable gas

Each page repeats the same limits: water spreading toward an outlet means staying clear, closing the water supply and using the breaker only from a dry panel; a burning smell means the breaker goes off; a hiss or gas smell near a machine on R-290 means no switches and no flame, open doors and windows, leave the room and call 911 if the smell is strong. No guide asks an owner to open a sealed line, take a panel off live wiring, or use cleaner and sanitizer other than as the manual directs.

04

Dated and kept current

An ice machine guide shows the day it was posted and the day it last changed, and the second date moves whenever a maker revises a manual the guide relies on.

Questions about
the guides.

Who writes the ice machine guides on this site?
The same technicians who come out on the ice machine visits booked here. What they find at a water valve, an evaporator or a drain is checked against the maker's literature wherever that literature exists.
Does an ice machine manufacturer sponsor these pages?
No. We are an independent repair service; no maker pays for the site or reads a guide before it goes up.
What if an ice machine guide gets something wrong?
Tell us through the contact form, with the page and the line in question. Once we confirm the error, we correct the line and the page shows a new revised date.
