Monogram ice machines,
specifically.

Monogram currently lists two panel-ready 15-inch ice machines: the UNC15NPWII for nugget ice and the UCC15NPRII for clear cubes, both with built-in WiFi through the SmartHQ app. Both run on R600a, a flammable refrigerant, and both report trouble through three small indicator lights rather than a code display, so reading those lights correctly is the first step of every Monogram visit.

The Monogram lineup

What is particular
to Monogram.

We service the current UNC15NP nugget and UCC15NP clear-ice machines, the earlier UNC15NJII nugget model, and the older ZDIS150 and ZDIC150 clear-ice machines. Monogram does not list a modular head or a stand-alone dispenser; its countertop ice press is not an ice machine.

Three lights carry every message

Making Ice, Time to Clean and Replace Filter do all the talking on current Monogram machines. Two lights flashing in turn mean a water supply problem, all three on together mean Sabbath mode, and a different flashing pattern means a component or sensor needs a technician.

A flammable sealed system

The UNC15NP and UCC15NP manuals state the refrigerant is isobutane, R600a, and warn against any sharp tool near the liner. Sealed-system work on these machines follows flammable-refrigerant practice, and a hiss or gas smell is treated as urgent.

The machine drains itself when switched off

Holding Power to turn the machine off finishes the current batch and drains the water tank; pulling the plug does not. That matters before a move, a vacation or winterizing, when Monogram also allows RV antifreeze, never automotive, in the drain of pump models.

A two-minute door alarm

The current models sound an alert when the door has been open for two minutes, and any button snoozes it. A panel-ready door that is out of line can keep the alarm going with the door apparently shut.

Parts

The filter on current models is the GSWF cartridge behind the lower access door, and Monogram sells door and handle kits to match. Boards, pumps and sealed-system parts are ordered from GE Appliances by the model and serial numbers on the label on the top inner liner.

Repair or replace

A water valve, filter head, drain pump, door switch or board is usually worth replacing on a panel-ready Monogram that still makes full ice, since the cabinet panel and handle stay with it. A sealed-system repair on an older ZDIS150 is a closer call and worth weighing against a current model.

Questions about
Monogram ice machines.

Which Monogram ice machine do I have, nugget or clear?
Model numbers starting UNC15 make nugget ice, and UCC15 models make clear cubes. The older ZDIS150 and ZDIC150 are clear-ice machines with a single Clean light that changes from yellow to red.
My Monogram ice machine shows all three lights on and makes no ice. Is it broken?
All three lights on together is how Monogram shows Sabbath mode, during which no ice is made. Hold Power and Filter Reset for 3 seconds to leave it; the machine also exits on its own after 96 hours.
How do I shut down a Monogram ice machine for the winter?
Turn it off with the Power button so the tank drains, then shut off the water. Monogram allows RV antifreeze in the drain of pump models but never automotive antifreeze, and asks for a cleaning cycle when the machine goes back into use.
What water pressure does a Monogram ice machine need?
The current manuals ask for a cold potable supply between 30 and 120 psi. Low pressure is one of the causes of the water-supply light pattern.
